Baked Custard

July 19, 2013

How I do it

I felt like buying some custard and I thought wouldn’t it be cool if I baked it. Then I wanted to try it cold, so I did.  Think it, do it.

This recipe was adapted from Good Housekeeping Magazine (May, 2012).

Baked Custard

Medium flan case, 300ml whipping cream, 5 medium egg yolks, 125g caster sugar.

1. Beat the sugar and egg yolks in a small bowl.
2. Heat the cream in a saucepan for 5 minutes before it starts simmering.
3. Mix the cream into the egg yolks and sugar.
4. Pre heat the oven to 180 degrees C.
5. Bake for 50 minutes.  The meal will be complete when the mixture has set and browned but there is still a slight wobble.
