Pork Chops with Gorgonzola

May 9, 2013

Gangster Food

My free time has been dominated by watching crime shows on television and listening to mystery stories on the radio.  I love the action and suspense, especially the bad guys who get my heart racing with their extra overt personalities.  There is one particular vigilante who I have been watching more because of his strange obsession with blood, but happens to be an excellent criminologist.  My main meal was inspired by him.  He had a thing for meat and steak dishes including pork chops.   Food that was manly but with an oozing element.  This was my first ever pork chop dish, I was really proud of it.  Gorganzola tastes great with meat, the addition of pesto gave the meat more depth.

This recipe was adapted from Good Food Magazine’s 101 Cheap Eats (BBC Books, 2003).

4 pork chops, 1 tbsp sunflower oil, 1 tbsp green presto, a handful of cherry tomatoes (halved), gorganzola.

1. Pre heat the grill to a medium to high heat.
2. Lay the chops on foil on a tray.
3. Brush a little oil over the chops.
4. Bake for 15 minutes, turning after 8 minutes.
5. When grilled spread pesto over the top.
6. Place tomatoes over the top and cheese on top of that.
7. Grill for another 4 minutes.
8. When the cheese has melted leave for 5 minutes and serve with chosen accompaniment.
