Refuelling the body the fresh way

I try to avoid artificial products designed for body building and sporting purposes such as building protein and “refuelling” the body during and after excersize.  I am skeptical about them because I sometimes feel the “extra help” is not natural.  Admittedly the whey protein bars and protein shakes have come in handy, but  I find the taste unpleasant and I become more concerned when I do not understand the ingredients.  I personally feel that the best way to get all of the vitamins, protein and beautiful benefits from food is to eat… food.  Real food.  So rather than drinking the formula that was recommended by the fitness instructor I decided to drink lots of water during my exercise and have a healthy, nutritious meal after.  As a result of this I felt happy, satisfied and accomplished for making a new egg scramble.  There is nothing wrong with protein bars and formulas every now and again, but in my opinion avoiding real food is a big mistake.  Every single food has some type of nutritional value, even if the food is full of sugar.  Therefore there is no such thing as the “perfect” diet, so just choose your foods wisely and make yourself happy.  My number one motto now is “Eat like a human, Live like an superhero!” It’s the Birdspeed way 😉


2 eggs, 1 medium tomato (chopped), 2 spring onions (chopped), 1 tsp chilli powder, 1 tsp mixed herbs, a pinch of black pepper, a pinch of salt,  2 tsps olive oil, a handful of fresh chopped coriander, wholemeal pitta bread (to serve).


1. In a small bowl mix up the eggs.
2. Add the spring onions, tomato, herbs and spices and seasoning.
3. Heat up the oil in a frying pan.
4. Pour in the egg mixture and make your scrambled eggs mixing the eggs until fluffy and cooked all the way through.
5. When finished put the eggs on the pitta bread and sprinkle over the fresh coriander.
